Symptoms of Balance and Dizziness Disorders
“Dizziness” is an imprecise word that means different things to different people. Some people use dizziness to describe feelings of:
- vertigo or spinning
- spatial disorientation
- blacking out, staggering
Symptoms can range from mild to severe and can be accompanied by other symptoms such as:
- blurred vision
For the purposes of clarity, the following definitions will be used on this website:
- Vertigo: The specific sensation that you or your surroundings are spinning or tilting.
- Dizziness: General term for all symptoms of wooziness, imbalance or instability.
- Imbalance: Inability to keep one’s balance, especially when standing or walking.
- Light-headedness: The feeling of nearly fainting, similar to the feeling you might get if you hold your breath for a long time.
