2016 BC Balance and Dizziness Disorders Society Awards
BC Balance and Dizziness Disorders Society awarded a total of $9,500 in 2016 to 12 therapists and clinicians to further their training.
Physiotherapists Marjorie Belot, Farron Fedechko, Roland Fletcher, Lori Janzen and Eduardo Naranjo as well as audiologist Estephanie Sta. Maria received support to attend advanced courses at either Emory University or the American Institute of Balance. We applaud the award recipients for demonstrating their commitment to treating people with vestibular disorders.
Lori Janzen, who works in northern BC, wrote to say that her clinic has “already been able to make a significant difference in the lives of many of our individual patients.” She went on to thank BC Balance and Dizziness Disorders Society for “supporting rural education in this really important area of practice.”
Physiotherapists Nina Bai, Nikhita Jain, Amanda Mow, Christa Robertson, Pratik Vyas and Sophia Zhao also received grants to attend introductory training courses in BC. We are encouraged to see generalist physiotherapists interested in increasing their knowledge about vestibular disorders; we are hopeful that their interest will be piqued to pursue advanced training in the future.
