Diagnostic Centres

Publicly funded testing
Tests to assess whether or not there are problems with the balance structures of the inner ear are offered at a number of publicly funded locations across Canada. Larger testing centres usually offer advanced vestibular function tests as well as diagnostic and management services for patients with complex ear- and hearing-related disorders. Smaller testing centres provide basic diagnostic vestibular evaluations. Test results may be communicated at the time of testing or through your doctor.
A referral from a specialist doctor is required to book an appointment at most testing centres.
Unfortunately, the wait lists at some centres are very long. Some testing centres have an urgent or expedited testing policy; whether or not this applies to you will be determined by your referring physician at the time of your consult. If you can be available at short notice, ask to be put on a cancellation list - an earlier appointment may become available.
Private testing
Some private facilities in Canada offer formal vestibular testing. To find them, use our online Practitioners List – limit your search to audiologists.
