Health Canada Approves PoNS™ Device

November 22, 2018

Portable Neuromodulation Stimulator (PoNS™) Will Now be Available in Canada!

PoNS Device

Please Note: We are a not-for-profit organization dedicated to educating, supporting and inspiring those affected by dizziness and balance disorders.

In the course of living our mission, we have come across the team of professionals involved in the research of the PoNS™ device in British Columbia, Canada. We are aware that the PoNS™ device has been approved in Canada and is only available at their specialty clinics in Surrey, BC and in Montreal, Quebec. Individuals interested in learning more about the treatment options can contact the clinic and book a 15 minute call through their websites:

Surrey: https://snpc.tech/

Montreal: https://neuromtl.com/

"The PoNS™ is an investigational, non-invasive, wearable medical device designed to deliver neurostimulation through the tongue. Clinical research has shown that electrical stimulation of the tongue activates two major cranial nerves – the trigeminal nerve and the facial nerve. Electrical stimulation of these cranial nerves creates a flow of neural impulses that are then delivered directly into the brain stem and cerebellum. PoNS™ Therapy combines the use of the PoNS™ device with physical therapy." - Helius Medical Technologies, Inc.

This stimulation of the the brain helps it heal from neurological trauma or learn to compensate for balance impairment.

PoNS™ has been used successfully in clinical trials involving people with impaired neuromotion from: traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, bi-lateral vestibular loss, balance impairment, spinal cord injury. Clinical trials took place in both the USA and Canada.

Helius Medical Technologies, Inc. has already established two Heuro Canada neuroplasticity clinics which could begin treating patients as early as the first quarter of 2019. Heuro Canada is an alliance between Helius Medical Technologies, Inc. and HealthTech Connex (HTC) and was created to distribute PoNS™ treatment in Canada. Heuro Canada is headquartered in Surrey, BC.
