Even those of us with balance issues can participate in many recreational activities. Additionally, as we get older, it's increasingly important for us to stay active. Tai chi, seniors exercise programmes, swimming and many other leisure activities can even help improve our balance.
The city of Surrey recently gave seniors a 75% discount on recreation fees to encourage them to get out and get moving. Exercise is crucial to everyone's health and well-being. It also encourages socialization and improves the mood of participants, which is important for seniors who can often feel isolated and lonely. Isolation and immobility can both lead to depression and general health problems.
So, check out the recreation options in your area, as I'm sure many more Surrey seniors are doing since the new fees came into effect on January 1, 2019.
